One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

Albert CamusThe Myth of Sisyphus

Own the rock

The gods gave Sisyphus the worst job in Greek myth. Push a boulder up a hill. Watch it roll back down. Walk down after it. Forever.

Camus looked at this and asked a strange question: what would it take to be fine with it? His answer was not to hope for rescue. It was to own the rock. The punishment only works if Sisyphus hates the task. The moment he decides the rock is his, the gods have nothing left to do to him.

You will not get a life without repetition. The dishes come back. The inbox refills. The same walk to the same bus. You get to decide whether that is a sentence or a craft.
