Ready

You have a note on your phone with the idea in it. You know the one. It has been there for eleven months. Every few weeks you open it, read it, feel the little jolt, and close it again, because you are not ready yet.

Here is what nobody told you about the people who did the thing: they were not ready either. They had a worse plan than yours and shakier hands. Some of them started on a Tuesday because they were bored and it got out of hand.

Ready is not a feeling you get before. It is something you notice afterwards, looking back, slightly surprised. The only way to become the person who could do it is to be the person who did it badly first.

The note is still open. Do one line of it.
