The man who owns nothing
Pavel Durov built the biggest social network in Russia. Then the government asked him for the data of people who had been protesting, and he said no, and he lost the company.
He left the country with a suitcase and built Telegram instead. He has said in interviews that he owns no house, no yacht, no jet. He rents. He keeps his life light enough to leave any country in a day. Not because he cannot afford the house. Because every single thing you own is a handle somebody can grab you by, and he wanted nothing to be grabbed by.
You do not have to live like that. But it is worth asking, honestly, what in your life would make you say yes to something you should refuse. The mortgage? The title? The approval of one specific person? That is exactly where your freedom stops.
